The sale sign was out

The end of the year blowout and I TRIED to resist, but of course I didn't. New felting yarn for at least 3 bags. Some pretty glittery stuff just because it was there and ON SALE. Then there was the silk, but we should not mention that, (except to say it will match my new coat and I have a cool scarf pattern). Okay, so I mentioned it. Oh, and an Electronic row counter. How long will I have it before it dissappears into the sucking void with the old fashioned clicker one, which I think may be with all of my stitch markers, tape measures and darning needles? I also bought a second pattern to match the one in said sucking void that was lost after the last big SALE visit. Have the yarn, could not find the pattern. The best way to find anything I say is to buy it a second time. The original will appear like magic!
Sat with my daughter the day after Christmas and worked her new scarf pattern she got along with the yarn and needles, for Christmas. I searched my stash and tried 3 or 4 times to begin one for myself, but no yarn was right for the project. (that nice silk from the sale should do the trick). Then, of course I can add some beads to the finished project making it truly my own; until somebody sees it and likes it and I give it away.
I have followed patterns (in my fashion) for a long time. However, in recent months, I am more inclined to be inventive. Some of the designs have worked out very well. Some knit beaded evening purses for gifts have been a lot of fun. Of course, I have not written anything down so they were originals. I am now searching for ways to be more diligent. A couple of felted bags have been invented; one in error and one by design. I have found that exciting and would love to do more. I hope there is somebody out there who is also inclined and will share ideas. As for the bead knitting, I find few takers in the near area. I find knitters and I find beaders, but seldom find anyone who is of the same mindset in the general vicinity. Anybody out there?

always looking for an excuse to knit

And if I can add a bead or 327, then I am a happy girl. New England winters are long here and I am forever holding something in my hand. Knitting needles, crochet hook, beading needles, you name it. I know what televsion personalities sound like, but tend not to look up often enough to catch what they look like. (might drop a stitch you know). My husband's most repeated phrase is "you're knitting again?". I think he's jealous. The puppy has to climb into my lap and put her nose onto the project to get her attention. If I could walk the dog and knit, well.....
I am forever shopping for needles. The dog especially loves the flavor of bamboo circular needles; you know the expensive ones.
We are considering redecorating with hammocks suspended from the ceiling to keep the yarn and needles out of the dog's reach. I am constantly re-organizing and still can't manage to corral it all. My resolutions not to buy another skein fly out the door when I see the Sale flyer or sign. Webs is a favorite haunt and it's an hour away so you CAN'T NOT pick something up. It would be a waste of energy.
The latest project has been elf hats for the family for Christmas day. We are volunteering at a big children's party and everyone NEEDED a hat. (okay, they didn't, but I made them anyway) I will take pictures and share as soon as I can figure out the flickr stuff. Time to make just one more hat.
